The Importance of Good Partners

I had a chance to answer a few questions from our friends at SWK in a recent version of their newsletter, SWK Insider. SWK is a long-time partner of ours that provides EDI, custom programming, and other support for us and our clients. The interview covered the importance of partnerships, our "Nine Steps to Success" process, reasons for the success we've experienced, and our outlook for 2010.

We really appreciate the folks at SWK. They've built their business on maximizing the success of their business partners and end customers. In that way, SWK and Arxis are exactly alike. As to their baseball loyalties, (most of them are Yankee fans), we agree to respectfully disagree.

What are your thoughts on the qualities of a good business partner or successful business partnership? Please share!

Solid State Drives

Every so often, a technology comes along that has the potential to truly transform the way we operate. Solid state drives (SSD) are a perfect example!

For years, solid state memory has been making its way to smaller and smaller devices and form factors. Whether its memory cards for cameras or USB thumb drives for your PC, these devices provide an incredible amount of storage in pint-sized formats.

Well, we’re finally to the point where this miniaturization process will help us start replacing the physical hard disk drives (HDD) inside of our desktop and laptop computers. These drives are called Solid State Drives and are now available in capacities up to 512 GB!

What makes these drives so appealing and potentially revolutionary? Well, consider the following:

Solid State Drives…

  • Are 5x faster than HDDs (operate at an equivalent of 40,000 RPM vs. 7200 RPM for today’s fast HDDs)
  • Consume 50% less power
  • Are 6x more reliable (MTBF) than HDDsPlug into existing HDD slots on desktops and laptops
  • Are available in 16GB – 512GB capacities
  • Are tuned to run the new Microsoft Windows 7 OS faster
